The Thurman Francis Arts Academy band program includes students in grades 5-8. Each grade level meets as a class daily for 40 minutes. The TFAA Band performs 2-3 concerts per year, participates in "Artists in Action" assemblies, the Veteran's Day Program, and has a pep band that plays at all home basketball games. The band program has received Excellent and Superior ratings at local competitions and regularly has students selected for district and regional honor band clinics. The philosophy of the TFAA Band is to create, instill, and share a love of music. We work to not only become great performers on our instruments, but also to learn about all aspects of music. We perform music from various time periods, varieties of styles, and even sometimes music we have created ourselves. Our band program is open to all 5th-8th grade students at TFAA and we are always happy to have new members. All that is needed is a desire to learn and a love of music!
